Another week without seeing Renata was weighing heavy on my mind. Our last face-to-face was at our second in-person session at Doctor Westmore’s office. I managed to talk her into having coffee with me at the small café on the ground level after the doctor had dismissed us.

On impulse, I dialed her number instead of working on the proposal I needed to finish for my company’s staff meeting tomorrow.

“Hello,” the sweet sound of her voice immediately flowed into my auditory system and stroked the sense like a warm hand.

“Hello. How was your day?”

“It was interesting,” she replied.

“Did you have an assignment to complete like I did?”

“Yes. I was a panhandler for a few hours.”

“That does sound interesting. I know we’re supposed to meet at Doctor Westmore’s to discuss our assignments, but are you available to discuss it now?”

I waited with bated breath, each second ticking by like a minute.

“What did you have in mind?” she asked, putting my mind at ease.

“You can pick a place near where you live or work, and I can meet you there,” I suggested, squeezing one of my eyes shut in anticipation for her reply.

“Okay. I’ll meet you halfway. Starbucks on Michigan this evening at 5:30.”

My fist pumped wildly into the air while I silently shouted my ‘hell yeses’ to the city view outside my office windows.
